New features, improvements, and fixes to the SBC Stats Chronicle

v2.5

NCAA Regionals & Dugout Sheets

Printable Pitcher Availability Sheets

Just in time for regionals, a new Pitcher Sheets print utility has been added under the Extras menu. Designed for fans, media, and broadcasters tracking pitcher usage, this tool generates dugout-ready sheets for any of the 64 tournament teams. Select regionals (like Chapel Hill or Hattiesburg) and print custom cards showing pitcher season stats (IP, ERA), two write-in slots, and daily pitch-count columns for Friday through Monday. Table grids print in light grey for easy writing and are optimized for standard black-and-white printing.

NCAA Tournament Filters in Visuals

The Visuals tab now supports regional-level and tournament-wide filtering. Select the "Tournament Field" or any of the 16 individual regional sites from the dropdown to automatically isolate and chart those teams. Additionally, the Player Scope scatter chart has transitioned from plain dots to high-resolution team logos that automatically scale down in crowded views to maintain chart legibility.

NCAA-Wide Lineup Simulator

The Lineup Builder/Simulator has been expanded to support all Division I NCAA baseball programs, graduating from SBC-only mode. You can now select any program in the country, configure their starting nine, and simulate their run-scoring potential against standard NCAA pitching profiles.

Walks & Strikeouts Axis Normalization

We fixed a bug in the visuals page where walks and strikeouts plotted incorrectly. The strikeouts axis now correctly reverses only for batters (where more SO is bad), while walks reverse only for pitchers (where more BB is bad), keeping the visual representations aligned with baseball intuition.

v2.4

Player Comparison Tool

Head-to-Head Player Comparisons

A brand new Player Comparison tool has been added to the Extras menu. This tool allows you to select any two Division 1 players—across any team or conference—and compare their performance side-by-side. The tool features two distinct modes: a Stats view for direct head-to-head metric comparisons with automatic advantage highlighting, and a Percentiles view featuring our Savant-style slider bars to see how both players stack up nationally against adjustable minimum PA/IP thresholds.

v2.3

Team Rankings in Stat Leaders & National Visuals

Team Rankings on Stat Leaders

The Stat Leaders page now features a full Team Rankings mode alongside the existing player leaderboards. Use the new Players / Teams toggle at the top of the page to switch between individual and team-level views. Both modes share the same conference filter and stat-category dropdown — covering batting metrics like AVG, OPS, wOBA, ISO, and BABIP, as well as pitching categories including ERA, FIP, K/9, and HR/9.

Load More Pagination

Both the player and team leaderboards now support progressive loading. Instead of a fixed top-10 list, a "Show next 10" button appears at the bottom of each table and loads additional results in increments of 10, up to a maximum of 50 entries visible at once.

National Views in Visuals

The Visuals page now includes a National option across all chart types, allowing you to compare teams across all of Division I baseball — not just conference-specific breakdowns. Team Aggregates, scatter plots, and distribution charts all support the national scope, giving a full-picture view of where any program stands nationally.

v2.2

Lineup Builder, National Rankings & Stat Enhancements

Lineup Builder

We've introduced a powerful new Lineup Builder tool. This feature allows you to seamlessly construct, optimize, and simulate starting lineups using a Monte Carlo simulation engine to predict the number of runs scored in a 9-inning game against an NCAA average pitcher.

National Rankings

You can now track how your favorite teams and players compare across the entire country. We've begun surfacing National Division-1 rankings directly on individual team pages and player cards.

XBH Added to Batting Tables

Extra Base Hits (XBH) have been added to the advanced batting tables for every team. The stat is now available for search and filtering on the league leaderboards, Player Finder and in Visuals.

v2.1

User Accounts, Front Page Customization & Smarter FIP

User Accounts

The Chronicle now supports user accounts. You can register with an email and password directly from the banner teaser in the top-left corner of any page. Once logged in, you'll find two tabs inside your account panel — Front Page and Settings — where you can personalize your experience and manage your credentials.

Front Page Customization

Logged-in users can now fully customize the six stat leaderboards displayed on the front page. Choose any four team stat tables from a library of batting and pitching metrics — including OPS, wOBA, BABIP, ERA, FIP, WHIP, K/9, and more — and configure each with a secondary companion column. The two player spotlight sections are equally customizable, with support for qualifying minimums (AB for batters, IP for pitchers). Set a Favorite Team to get a direct link to your team's full stats page from the front page.

Dynamic FIP Constant

FIP (Fielding Independent Pitching) has been recalibrated. FIP is now anchored to the NCAA average ERA, with the constant calculated as lgERA minus lgRawFIP using all individual pitcher lines in the database. As of this posting that constant is approximately 4.39. The constant recalculates automatically with each daily data sync, keeping the metric properly calibrated throughout the season.

Updates are posted here whenever significant new features or data improvements are deployed.
